A project of Allianz Kulturstiftung and Literarisches Colloquium Berlin in cooperation with the Ministry of Culture in Albania.
Under the motto ‘Europe: a space of remembrance’ eight authors of different generations from Albania, Egypt, Germany and Switzerland were invited into a literary dialogue on October 4 and 5, 2013, discussing what connects or divides them in their shared Mediterranean heritage.
In their discussions the authors considered the question of the collective memory that has evolved around the Mediterranean (The White Sea), with its long history of shared cultural traditions and present characterised by contradictions.
All texts that were read by authors during the festival were published in a special edition of Aleph Review in German and Albanian.
The "The White Sea" literary festival went to Tirana after stopovers in Berlin and Trieste (https://kulturstiftung.allianz.de/en/projects/literature/das_weissemeer/the_white_sea_13_tirana/the_white_sea_tirana.html).
